Death Club

Based on Alcestis by Euripides
2018

Tehran, Iran

BRIEF

The whole performance takes place in a bar called “Death club” in which Hades (God of death) serves as a bartender. He starts to make a conversation with Alcestis as she sits at the corner of the bar.

Meanwhile, they can witness what's happening on earth on bar's TV. As the play moves forward, Alcestis admits that being an outsider, she is amused by Death. She prefers to stay on the dark side,

instead of being a housewife for a paranoid, standpat husband who is a king in somewhere. Jan Kott’s “The eating of the gods” was a main source for this adaptation.
